Modernizing the tradition: Mengaji among children of urban Muslim families in Indonesia

Muslims believe that the Qur’an is main source of Islamic values, and teaching it to children early important. The tradition mengaji, or learning Qur’an, has been impacted by globalization modernization. Still, new methods such as online fun-learning techniques have emerged make more innovative creative for children. This article discusses how modernization changes way activities in reading al-Quran (mengaji) urban areas. Their going TPA/TPQ (Taman Pendidikan Al-Qur’an) shifted modern way.
